How To Make The Stongest Toothpick Tower

Part of the letter to Willy Brandt and Bruno Kreisky, March 17, 1972:

A rough social climate characterized the daily lives of the people. (XIX century) The labor movement had a ideology which allowed to explain the current situation while showing the way to a better social system. The protest itself was not enough. Thus was created an organization that was to get the transformation of society. So far there was agreement, but differences on the method to be followed were great. There were groups who believed in the total collapse of society and wanted to collaborate actively to produce it-The revolution was to bring the power to build a new society on the ruins of the old order, others wanted to transform society by peaceful means. They talked about patience and responsibility, but at the same time advocating for change, by decision and firmness in setting goals. Whoever decided to take the path of reformism was partly motivated by the historical and real opportunities. Thus, the general level of education of the people created better conditions for democratic work. In Sweden, democratic popular movements played a decisive role. We had time to build a democratic tradition and we succeeded in this task.
